“Free Syrian Army” = a Phantom (Lavrov)

nsnbc, 10-5-2015

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov responded to vague U.S. statements about the Free Syrian Army and “moderate rebels” and that Russia may target moderates, saying that the Free Syrian Army is a phantom group. In depth investigations show that the Free Syrian Army largely ceased to exist in 2012 -13.

The Russian Foreign Minister rebuked accusations that the Russian Air Force in Syria targets the Free Syrian Army (FSA) or so-called “moderate rebels” saying:

“No one has told us where the Free Syrian Army operates or where and how the other units of the moderate opposition act. . … We will even be ready to establish contact with it, if these are indeed efficient armed groups of the patriotic opposition that consist of Syrians. … So far, the Free Syrian Army remains a “phantom group … Nothing is known about it.”

Lavrov called on the United States Secretary of State John Kerry to explain what the Free Syrian Army is and where it is based. Last week Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made a similar comment, saying

“There is absolutely controversial information about this so-called army. … What is Free Syrian Army? Is this an official term? Are they official armed forces or what is it”.

nsnbc investigations and other reports have shown that the Free Syrian Army (FSA), prior to June and July 2012 consisted of some Syrian Muslim Brotherhood associated fighters, some few former Syrian Arab Army soldiers, and a large number of mercenaries from Libya and other countries.

This foreign-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) suffered two decisive defeats in June and July 2012, a little more than a year after the eruption of the conflict. The decline of the FSA and the increased presence of Salafist / Wahhabi fighters in 2012 was, among others documented by the International Crisis Group, in their comprehensive report entitled “Tentative Jihad”.

By December 2013 the remainders of the FSA began to break up and more western, Turkish and Gulf Arab support was channeled to the Al-Qaeda associated Jabhat Al-Nusrah, ISIL and other mercenary or semi-mercenary insurgencies.

(note– Obama has been pretending to fight the terrorist group ISIS/Al-Qaeda, but covertly he has been supporting them, hoping they will dismantle the legitimate Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad.

Obama hasn’t stopped ISIS. He hasn’t tried. Russia, on the other hand, in less than a week, is eliminating large areas of ISIS’s control in Syria with air strikes likely to be followed by Russian troops on the ground to finish cleaning it up. If Putin can do this in a short time you know Obama could have done it too … if he had wanted. He just didn’t want to.

Obama wants Assad out, and claims there is an in-country anti-Assad movement of Syrians against Assad [a kind-of civil opposition movement]. Obama calls them “moderate rebels” or “FSA” – Free Syrian Army. In truth, they don’t exist.

The US and NATO have been standing back, waiting for ISIS to overthrow Assad. Meanwhile, Obama and Kerry were claiming that some of the terrorists [ISIS/Al-Queda] are “good terrorists.” But, in fact, they are factions of the ISIS/Al-Queda backed by the CIA. Thus, the US has been backing ISIS terrorists, claiming them to be Syrian “moderate rebels.”

Up to now, Assad’s military has been the only force effectively fighting the terrorists [ISIS]. Putin had been supplying Assad with military equipment, but now he is sending Russian planes to do what Assad was unable to do. It won’t take Putin long to fix the problem in Syria and get Assad’s government back on its feet.

And, again, Obama will come off just looking inept instead of like the deceiver that he truly is.  -ed)

John McCain, the chairman of the Military Committee of the US Senate, wants ISIS terrorists to be armed with anti-aircraft weapons to shoot Russian aircraft down, EntryNews.com reports with reference to Fox News.

During the recent days, the Russian Air Force has attacked multiple targets of ISIS terrorists in Syria. In an interview with Fox News, McCain, shared his view on how the US should handle with Russian war planes in Syria.

“I would do as we did in Afghanistan many years ago and give the guys the opportunity to shoot down those planes,” McCain said.

Russia on the other hand insists that it has only attacked terrorist groups.

“We have attacked targets from ISIS and other targets. We attack all Islamic terrorist groups, not just ISIS,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

A company of US-trained rebels, “Division 30” joined the al-Nusra Front, which is a branch of al-Qaeda – a terrorist network which is considered to have been founded by the CIA during the Afghan war in the 1980s.
