The Story of Banks is a vintage educational comic book published by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 1982. Scripted by C.J. Parnow with artwork by comic artist Al Wenzel, this booklet uses full-color sequential art to explain complex economic concepts, the evolution of banking institutions, thrifts versus commercial banks, and how money moves through the financial system.
These official Federal Reserve educational comic books were distributed primarily to schools, universities, and visiting groups, making early 1980s editions increasingly scarce collectible pieces of mid-century and late-20th-century financial ephemera.
